Connection under Ubuntu

I've used BT747 for several years under Windows XP and Vista. However problems with those versions of Windows are getting ever more serious, so I'm migrating to Linux (Ubuntu distribution).

Unfortunately connecting my GPS device (iBlue 747) under Linux didn't go as smoothly as I had hoped. But I've now overcome the problems, so I thought I'd describe the symptoms and the solution here in case anyone else has similar problems.

PhotoTrackr CD111

Very impressed!  I've now got it working on my Ubuntu 10.10 netbook. I can download the track logs perfectly, but I can't work out how to erase the log memory.  I've switched to the "Device Settings" screen and clicked "Erase Only" gone through the warning dialogs to the final erasing memory dialog but that just sits there for ever - well 5 minutes for Linux and over 30 minutes for the Windows version.  What could I be doing wrong?

Magrat.
