GPS Data Logger Software - BT747

Following some discussions on GpsPasSion I added compatiblity for the Visiontac VGPS-900 logger. The special feature of this logger is its capability to do voice recording. It also has some functions for car use.

The VGPS-900 is different from the other types of loggers in that it does not log to internal memory, but to an external memory card (microSDCard).

KML files can be shown on Google Maps once they've been uploaded to a site. Some limitations/bugs in Google Maps required modifications of BT747 available starting from V1.60.12.

BT747 can be used to prepare the GPX files to upload to OpenStreetMap.
To limit the time needed for the upload itself, and later for handling the upload, it is best to limit the size of the GPX file regardless of the data that you logged.

In BT747, you can select the fields that you write to the output file. On the 'Output Settings' tab of BT747, you can select the 'File Output Fields'. For OSM, the Time (UTC), Latitude, Longitude and Height fields are the minimum - you can unselect the others.

Installing the desktop version is easiest from the web. A reference to the installation links can be found on the Easy install page on http:/www.bt747.org . Installation from the web requires that you have 'Java Web Start' installed. This is already available on most Desktop systems. Further, you still need to have the low level drivers for the serial link (over USB or bluetooth). These were in principle on the CD that came with your GPS Logger if you have windows.
